Born in Hong Kong 1965, Douglas Young was trained as an Architect in Sheffield University and the Architectural Association in UK. Since 1991, Young has worked in Hong Kong on projects ranging from residential to retail interiors. In 1996, Young co-founded GOD with Benjamin Lau. The shop retails contemporary furniture, homeware and lifestyle accessories with a contemporary Chinese twist. Most of the merchandise are designed in-house by a multi-disciplinary design team led by Young. The long-term vision is to build a Hong Kong brand that is both forward looking and proud to display its cultural origins. To date, GOD has a 20,000 sq.ft. flagship store in Causeway Bay, a 15,000 sq.ft. shop in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon and a 3,000sq.ft. home accessories store in Central as well as other smaller outlets. GOD wholesales products to many countries, and has plans to open individual shops in Asia. Douglas Young Personal Awards : 2005 Ten Best Dressed Personalities Award 2005 by the Hong Kong Fashion Designers Association G.O.D. Awards : 2008 Hong Kong Arts & Design Festival’s Outstanding Greater China Designs Awards bythe Hong Kong Communication Art Centre.
