Hong Kong

Born in Finland in 1970, Riitta Kuisma studied Visual Arts at Turku Art Academy, Finland and History of Arts in Turku University, Finland. She left for Moscow to study Monumental and Decorative Painting and History of Arts. She received her B.A. in 1994 and M.F.A. in Monumental and Decorative Painting and Art Criticism from Moscow State University of Industrial and Applied Arts in 1996. Over the years she has been under the influence of different cultures ( Finnish, Russian, Indian and Chinese ). Her art works have become more informative and socially and environmentally sensitive. To her the purpose of being an artist is to reflect and react what one sees and experiences in life and to deliver those facts, which sometimes can be quite striking, through her art. In order to accomplish that she tries to achieve the ( emotional ) balance between the inner, hidden mind and reality. Riitta has held solo exhibitions in Europe, India and Hong Kong and has joined many group exhibitions. Her works can be seen in many private collections in Europe ( Finland, Russia, England, France and Germany ), Asia ( India, Japan and Hong Kong ) and Australia. She has received grants for her works from Finnish Cultural Foundation. She has been living and working in Hong Kong since 1997.
