About KLOMP!
KLOMP! is a cross-cultural design-for-charity event.
Hong Kong and China based artists and designers were given a pair of original Dutch wooden shoes ('Clogs' in English, 'Klompen' in Dutch), with the brief to ‘do something with them’ while keeping the original clog recognisable in some form.
The clogs would be exhibited and auctioned with the proceeds donated to charity.
The iconic, authentic Dutch clog combined with the unique local Hong Kong point-of-view of the artists resulted in a series of wonderful works.
Klomp! was first presented as part of the Detour programme of the Business of Design Week 2008, Hong Kong.
